The Hill Country Humane Society is asking for donations to help a dog that is on the road to recovery after being shot multiple times.

On January 11, the shelter announced on its Facebook page that the Messiah was brought to them by animal control officers after he was shot in the face. They managed to get the Messiah to a veterinarian, who said that the Messiah “had a lot of shrapnel or whole bullets in his body.”

The orphanage says that Messiah had one close to his nose, one on his neck, one in his upper back and one passed through his back leg.

An update posted Jan. 13 shows that the Messiah has returned to the shelter, and the shelter reported that the Messiah had up to eight bullets/shrapnel in the layers of skin that missed all of the major arteries.

On January 16, another update was released in which the shelter reported that the Messiah was drinking and eating as expected, but he was still in danger.

The orphanage is asking for donations as it continues to help Messiah get well.

Reward Offered To Find Who Shot The Messiah

Help Asheville Bears says it is offering a $5,000 reward for information on the case.

If you know the person responsible, please call our anonymous support line at 1-855-SOS-BEAR at any time of the day or night.

The organization is asking people to “become an anonymous hero and help us bring justice to the Sweet Messiah!”
