Disability rights groups sue Newsom Court of Care

SAN DIEGO (CUSI). Disability rights groups filed a lawsuit on Thursday, January 26, in an attempt to block Governor Gavin Newsom’s far-reaching plan to address the problem of the homeless and the mentally ill by forcibly treating thousands of temporary people.

Disability Rights California, the Western Center for Law and Poverty, and the Public Interest Bill have petitioned the state’s high court to strike down the plan as a violation of the constitution.

California Senior Attorney Sarah Gregory joined KUSI’s Logan Byrnes to discuss the details of the lawsuit.
