Deputy WilCo helps catch 4 robbery suspects leaving town

A Williamson County legislator helped piece together the details of the investigation to catch four fraud suspects heading out of town.

Juggling is when people watch someone go to a bank or ATM and come out with money, then they follow him, break into his car and take the money.

“In recent months, this has become a more frequent occurrence in the Austin metro area. Almost daily, I’d say,” Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Feldmann said.

MP Feldmann said it happened in December at Cedar Park, a fraud incident turned into a robbery. Investigators said the suspects were tailing a small business owner. They pursued them, attacked, robbed and fled.

“I recognized the bank from which the victim was being tracked as my previous investigation, knowing that this was a similar incident with a similar bank,” Deputy Feldmann said.

Deputy Feldmann was able to identify the suspects and a description of the vehicles, and then contacted the Fayette County Sheriff’s office to inform them that the suspects were likely heading to Houston. Fayette County deputies and La Grange police units stopped two vehicles traveling together on Highway 71.

Four suspects, John Carter, Roderick Glenn, Sean Johnson and Rodney Wilson, were arrested. Law enforcement found a large amount of money in one of the vehicles and surveillance equipment used to monitor the targets.

It was a joint effort by several departments to capture the suspects.

“Our investigative tools and capabilities to investigate these offenses are getting better and better every day, and it’s only a matter of time before you get caught,” Deputy Feldmann said.

Deputy Feldmann was awarded a challenge coin for his work in solving this crime.

“I’m especially grateful that law enforcement today recognizes the investigative aspects of the job and can be recognized for it,” Deputy Feldmann said.

Two suspects are on bail. The other two are still behind bars at the Williamson County Jail.
