Deputies say driver killed after street race on I-10 in Chambers County

CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas – A driver has been declared dead after deputies said he crashed while racing with other vehicles on Saturday.

Around 2:45 p.m., several vehicles raced along Interstate 10 eastbound toward Winnie of Mont Belvier, officials said.

Deputies say they found one of the cars that crashed on the side of Interstate 10 in Winnie.

There were reportedly several sports cars in the area that fled the scene upon the deputies’ arrival.

When one of the deputies approached the crashed car, he reportedly found the dead driver inside.

Authorities are not disclosing the identity of this driver at this time.
