Crew-5 splashed down off the coast of Florida after flying to the International Space Station

The SpaceX and NASA Crew-5 team is heading home after an almost 6-month science mission.

The Dragon spacecraft, carrying NASA astronauts Nicole Mann and Josh Kassada, JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Koichi Wakata, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Anna Kikina, undocked from the International Space Station early Saturday.

NASA stated that their television broadcast would begin at 8:00 p.m. until the Endurance lands at approximately 9:02 p.m. near Tampa off the coast of Florida and Crew-5 members are recovered.

The astronauts docked at the ISS on October 6 and officially undocked to head home Saturday at 2:20.

The NASA broadcast schedule is as follows:

20:00 – NASA splashdown coverage begins.

20:11 — Descent from orbit

21:02 – splashdown off the coast of Florida.

10:30 p.m. – “Return to Earth” media call from NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston featuring:

  • Steve Stitch, Commercial Crew Program Manager, NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

  • Joel Montalbano, International Space Station Manager, NASA Johnson

  • Sarah Walker, Director of Dragon Mission Control, SpaceX

  • Hiroshi Sasaki Vice President JAXA
