Crafted Culture to Expand with Point Loma Location

Crafted Culture, a bar and restaurant concept from the San Diego hospitality group behind Resident Brewing, The Hen House, and Death By Tequila, is set to take over the restaurant space currently occupied by Westerly Public House in San Diego’s Point Loma. The 2,800 square-foot onsite restaurant space located on the base floor of Point Loma’s $30 million Monsaraz Hotel will be the home of the latest branch of Empress Capital Investments’ Crafted Culture concept. The Northern California-based group was founded by James Langley in 2017 with the opening of the first Wokou Ramen & Yakitori in San Diego’s Carmel Valley. Since then, the group has had a series of operations in San Diego, including the now-defunct California Native within Del Mar Highlands Town Center and Leap Coffee in Escondido.

The Crafted Culture concept is centered around embracing the ethos of the oft-repeated buzzword “craft”. The concept is expected to bring a dedication to craft beer, cocktails, wine, among others, to the table, as well as American cuisine reimagined. Crafted Culture opened its first location in San Diego’s North County of Sabre Springs in 2021. The new location is expected to maintain the high standards of the original location. The company will also operate the hotel’s onsite café with coffee from its Leap Coffee brand.

The restaurant space at Westerly Public House will soon become home to the newest addition to Crafted Culture’s brand. The restaurant and bar concept emphasizes locally sourced ingredients and sustainable practices, in keeping with the ethos of the San Diego hospitality group. The new location of the restaurant is anticipated to open as early as this June at 1451 Rosecrans Street in San Diego’s Point Loma.

In addition to the newly assumed restaurant space, Empress Capital Investments has other operations in the pipeline. The San Diego-based company has a second location of Death By Tequila in Encinitas, with a planned second branch opening in North Park. Additionally, the rise of Rise & Shine Restaurant Group’s Breakfast Republic chain has been linked to Langley’s leadership role in the company. With the addition of the Westerly Public House space, the group is expected to continue with its expansion plans both within San Diego and beyond.

Crafted Culture is a concept that has been embraced by San Diego’s food lovers, and its expansion marks a significant milestone for the San Diego hospitality industry. The concept brings to the table the city’s love of local and sustainable cuisine with a commitment to excellence in craft beer, cocktails, and wine. The opening of the newest location in Point Loma is eagerly anticipated by both locals and visitors to San Diego. For more information, visit craftedculturesd.com.
