Cops say man arrested for robbing Bay Shore bank after claiming to have bomb

Suffolk County Police on Monday, March 6, detained a man who committed a bank robbery in Bay Shore.
Donald Klapak walked into the Chase Bank, located at 537 East Main St., at approximately 10:40 a.m., handed the cashier a note demanding cash, and told the cashier that he had a bomb.
The cashier did not comply with his demands, and Klapak left the bank.
Klapak was found not far from the arrived officers.
Klapak, 58, a homeless man, was charged with attempted robbery in the 3rd degree. He will be detained overnight at the Third Precinct for arraignment on March 7 at the First District Court of Central Ailip.
