Copper thieves attacked Cinco Ranch Dermatology 3 times; owner says she paid over $75k for repairs, reinstallation

CINCO RANCH “Fort Bend County dermatologist says thieves stole copper wire from her business not once, not twice, but three times.

The incidents were caught on camera and the owner of Cinco Ranch Dermatology says the whole situation was very difficult and frustrating.

The electric company hired to reinstall the lines said the copper could sell for thousands of dollars.

According to Dr. Kelly Conner, she has given away over $75,000 in a year and a half and believes her business is being harassed.

“This is our main corridor. In this light, you definitely won’t find any skin cancer, right,” said Dr. Conner.

Dr. Conner tries to figure out why thieves stole hundreds of feet of copper wire from her business.

“Just today I got a bill for $27,000,” she said. “We have 20 employees who have nothing to do today. We had over 80 patients who needed to be rescheduled.”

Back in February 2021, surveillance video caught a man walking through the property on Westheimer Boulevard in Katy.

“You can see him coming and opening the door,” she said.

Dr. Conner says they paid $25,000 to fix the problem.

“And then we come back after the copper was replaced and it disappeared again within a week,” she said.

The same thing happened for the third time on Tuesday evening.

“On the ring camera, we see the guy jumping over the fence and cutting the cords. At our neighbor’s house, we see their white pickup truck around 4:30 in the morning. They’re just pulling back to have quick access to grab the copper,” Dr. Conner said.

Electricians say a pound of copper can be sold for three or four dollars, making a robbery worth several thousand dollars.

Dr. Conner says it’s charming the third time, but hopes the thieves won’t be so lucky next time.

“Guys, go get a job, please,” she said.

Dr. Conner filed a complaint with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. She plans to tighten security measures and hopes her business will reopen on Friday.
