SAN DIEGO (CUSI) – San Diego County residents have demanded answers before City Hall after a natural gas price spike sent SDG&E utility bills skyrocketing in January.
Gov. Gavin Newsom has called on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to “take a deeper look at the market manipulation, anti-competitive behavior … that drive prices up on Western gas markets all the time.”
The California Public Utilities Commission accelerated bill lending to ease price pressures in February, March and April.
Craig Rose, a San Diego Community Authority volunteer, called for a moratorium on utility shutdowns at a time when prices remain high.
