Collier County man accused of killing endangered birds
MARCO ISLAND, Florida — A 24-year-old man from Bonita Springs has been arrested and charged with killing five black skimmers, an endangered Florida bird, on Marco Island, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). ). .
According to the FWC, witnesses saw Renardo Stewart accelerate and drive a golf cart through a pack of black skimmers resting on the beach.
He was later apprehended and admitted to having driven a golf cart through a flock of birds. Stewart is now charged with five offenses related to violations of endangered or endangered species.
