CNN’s Casey Hunt gives birth in the bathroom after ’13-minute sudden labor’

According to the journalist, CNN political analyst Casey Hunt went into “13 minutes of sudden labor” in the bathroom of her home before giving birth to a healthy baby girl.

Hunt said her second child with husband Matthew Mario Rivera weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces after an unplanned delivery on Wednesday. Magazine PEOPLE.

“We expected her to arrive through a scheduled caesarean section on Thursday morning. She had other plans! Relieved parents told PEOPLE in a statement.

Hunt, 37, joked that “Grey is already showing us his independent streak.”

“Gray was born at home, early on Wednesday morning, after 13 minutes of sudden labor – even before they had time to call an ambulance,” the couple said.

“We are so grateful to the 911 operators and the DC Fire & EMS team,” the couple told PEOPLE.

“Step by step, they told us about the incredibly intense moments immediately after her birth and first breaths.”

The couple added: “Thank you to the firefighters and paramedics at the scene who treated the mom and baby at home and then got us safely to Sibley Hospital in Washington.”

“We will never forget this day!”

“We are so excited about life as a family of four – and reminded that it will be much more unpredictable!” Hunt Riveras told the magazine.

The birth of her second daughter is a joyful occasion for Casey Hunt, who has recently gone through a difficult time.

In October 2021, she revealed that she had undergone a four-hour operation to remove a benign brain tumor.

She said the tumor was discovered in August 2021, just around the time she began her new role at CNN.

Hunt was hired by then-CNN boss Jeff Zucker, who planned to cast her as part of an all-star cast that would bring viewers to the CNN+ cable channel’s streaming service.

But Zucker was forced to leave after it was revealed he was in a long-term, consensual relationship with his chief marketer, Allison Gollust.

CNN+ was also launched just as parent companies Warner Bros. and Discovery were completing their multi-billion dollar merger.

With the new management structure, the company began cutting costs aggressively, cutting CNN+ just a few weeks before its inception.

Hunt, who frequently appears alongside Jake Tapper on his “The Lead” show, joined CNN after leaving Comcast-owned MSNBC, where she served as an anchor and correspondent on Capitol Hill.

The 37-year-old Dearborn, Michigan native cut her journalistic teeth as a national political reporter for the Associated Press newsfeed before being poached by NBC News.

Hunt met her future husband, Rivera, while they were both working for NBC News in Washington, DC.

Rivera is not only a journalist and producer, but also an adjunct professor at New York University.
