CNN host and chief national affairs analyst Casey Hunt and her husband Matthew Mario Rivera welcomed their second child in an unforgettable way last week.

Their daughter, Gray Hunt Rivera, was born at home on Wednesday morning after just 13 minutes of sudden labor before an ambulance could be called.

Gray’s arrival was first reported by humans.

“Gray is already showing us his independent streak. We expected her to arrive via the scheduled Section C on Thursday morning,” Hunt and Rivera said of the early arrival. She had other plans!

Instead of a scheduled delivery at the hospital, Rivera found himself giving birth to Gray on the bathroom floor. After the successful delivery, the couple was able to contact 911 operators and the DC Fire and EMS team for further assistance. “Step by step, they told us about the incredibly intense moments right after her birth and first breaths,” Hunt said.

“Thank you to the firefighters and paramedics at the scene who treated the mom and baby at home and then got us safely to Sibley Hospital in Washington,” they said. “We will never forget this day!”

Gray Hunt Rivera was born on Wednesday, March 1, weighing 8 pounds and 4 ounces.

Baby Gray is now safe at home with her big brother Mars, 3, who they say can’t stop talking about his little sister.

“We are so excited about the life of a family of four – and reminded that it will be much more unpredictable!” Hunt and Rivera said.
