City of Austin reopens amnesty program

The Austin Municipal Court and the Austin Community Court (DACC) have relaunched the Warrant Amnesty program to help those with unpaid fines and/or outstanding warrants.

The program started on February 6 and will run until March 3.

Persons resolving active warrants are not charged a warrant fee, but must go to court to take advantage of this program.

No officers will be sent to take defendants into custody during this time period, and those who voluntarily appear in any Austin municipal court or public court will not be arrested.

For those who cannot pay immediately, options are available, including payment plans, community service, or hardship waivers for those who qualify.

This program only applies to active cases in Austin Municipal Court or Austin Municipal Court.

Several preliminary checks are scheduled from Monday to Friday during the amnesty period. Judges and prosecutors will be available to review cases, discuss options, and issue appropriate orders.

During these meetings is not required. The Amnesty Warrant applies only to active cases and all services are provided free of charge, and Spanish interpreters will also be available.
