Children’s Safe Harbor announces a new Council President and Council Steering Group for 2022-2024.

CONROE, TX — Children’s Safe Harbor announced a new council president and council leadership team for the 2022-2024 term.

Matt Rodrigue has been named the new Board President, leading a leadership team that includes Rey Saludares as Board Vice President, Ryan Hutson as Board Treasurer, and Paul Purcell as Board Secretary.

The mission of Children’s Safe Harbor is to bring justice and healing to every child who has been abused, and to involve the community in this mission. Founded 24 years ago, a team of multidisciplinary partners (such as Law Enforcement, the Texas Department of Family and Welfare) has helped more than 21,000 children aged 2 to 17 in a safe place to be heard, helped, and healed. This children’s advocacy center serves Montgomery, Walker, and San Jacinto counties.

Matt Rodrigue is a Sergeant with the Spring Independent School District Police Department. He served on the Board of Directors of Children’s Safe Harbor for eight years. In April, Rodrigue will receive a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership.

Ray Saludares is an oil and gas entrepreneur who was previously a retired engineer at Occidental Petroleum Corporation. He recently received an MBA from Rice University.

Ryan Hutson is the founder of Hutson Realty Partners, LLC, a commercial real estate firm, and a licensed commercial real estate broker. In addition, he serves as a reserve sergeant with the 3rd Montgomery County Police Station.

Paul Purcell is the Executive Director of the Montgomery County Medical Society. He is also a project manager in a privately funded pediatric practice. For fun, he is a US rugby umpire and an avid instrument-rated pilot.

Rodrigue is preceded in his role as council president by former council president and current council executive committee member Mary Nan Huffman, JD, who is legal counsel for the Houston Police Union.

“This is a very exciting time as our leadership team is comprised of strong professionals who have set many key goals and strategies as we approach the new deadline,” said Victoria Constance, MSPH, PhD, Chief Executive of Children’s Safe Harbor . “Our new board president, Matt Rodrigue, has a special passion for and understanding of our mission as he leads this incredible team. They are strongly committed to the future direction and operational growth of our child advocacy center.”

Matt Rodrigue added: “I am looking forward to my new role as president of Children’s Safe Harbor. I have enjoyed being a board member for the past eight years and I know our board members as a team are committed to moving Children’s Safe Harbor forward. Our biggest challenge, as I see it, is to advance our fundraising efforts for our capital campaign to build our new facility. Ensuring that effort is a top priority.”
