Charlotte County Deputies Detain Man Who Is Among Top 10 Most Wanted Criminals

CHARLOTT COUNTY, Florida. Charlotte County Sheriff’s Deputies (CCSO) captured one of their ten most wanted men Thursday night after a short chase ended with the suspect caught in a canal.

Deputies responded at 23277 Lehigh Ave. in Port Charlotte looking for Stachon L. Wright.

According to the CCSO, after making contact with Wright’s girlfriend at the front door, the deputy was able to observe Wright on the veranda at the back of the residence. Another deputy approached from the rear of the residence and called him by name.

At the time, Wright declared “I’m not coming back” and escaped on foot by jumping over a backyard fence towards Peachland Boulevard. As the aides pursued him, they gave Wright several verbal commands to stop running, which he ignored. Wright then jumped into the canal between Peachland Boulevard. etc. Delavan, where he was able to detain the deputies.

Wright was wanted for violating probation after being beaten at home by strangulation in May 2020.

Violations include changing his residence without prior consent, failing to see his probation officer as instructed, and not following his daily schedule. MPs also had an open probable cause for Wright following an incident in January this year that resulted in a battery charge.
