After a very successful resurrection of Malarchi’s empire with the launch of Herb & Wood in Little Italy in the spring of 2016, Malarchi has continued to develop his culinary empire over the years. In September 2019, Malarkey and Puffer opened a $5.5 million Animae, an upscale fusion restaurant that combines French, Japanese and Southeast Asian cuisines, located on the 15,000-square-foot ground floor of the Pacific Gate by Condominium luxury high-rise. Bosa in downtown San Diego. . In the fall of 2019, Malarkey also opened Herb & Sea in downtown Encinitas. Puffer Malarkey Holdings also operates Herb & Ranch, a multi-purpose restaurant in Orange County. Most recently, Puffer-Malarkey reclaimed the 7,500-square-foot Herringbone facility in La Jolla from the Tao Group for a new French bistro and steakhouse called Le Coq. Le Coq is reported to be Malarca’s last restaurant.
