Celebrity Chef Brian Malarkey joins Food Network’s “Beachside Brawl” cooking competition in new season.

Celebrity chef Brian Malarkey has been selected to lead the West Coast team on the upcoming season of the Food Network’s culinary competition “Beachside Brawl.” The new season, hosted by Chef Antonia Lofaso, is scheduled to premiere on June 18th, where top-notch chefs from both the East and West coasts will face off in a series of challenges.

The competition promises to be intense as both coasts will seek to prove they are the best at cooking. Malarkey, the acclaimed West Coast team captain, will lead a team of five professional cooks, hoping to bring home the title. He will be joined by acclaimed East Coast chef Eric Adjepong, who will lead the East Coast team.

Malarkey, a resident of Point Loma, San Diego, has always had a deep passion for cooking. He first gained national recognition as a finalist on Bravo’s “Top Chef” Season 3, and went on to establish his own fabric brand of restaurants, including the Searsucker, which opened in San Diego’s Gaslamp area in 2010. Malarkey has also been a regular judge on “Guy’s Grocery Games” on the Food Network, and was a winning mentor on ABC’s primetime culinary competition, “The Taste.”

Despite his success, Malarkey is not slowing down. In September 2019, he opened up the $5.5 million Animae restaurant, featuring French, Japanese and Southeast Asian cuisine, in downtown San Diego. He also opened Herb & Sea in downtown Encinitas later that fall.

Malarkey will be guiding a team of accomplished chefs from the West Coast, including David Lespron (Los Angeles, CA), Emily Lim (San Francisco, CA), Cesar Oceguera (Chula Vista, CA), Jasmyne Romero-Clark (Portland, OR), and Amanda Smith (Koloa, HI). The Beachside Brawl competition will feature rotating guest judges such as Nate Appleman, Guy Fieri, Alex Guarnaschelli, Mei Lin, Stephanie Izard, Troy Johnson of San Diego MAGA-zine, Jasmine Roth, Joe Sasto, Jet Tila and San Diego’s very own chef Claudette Zepeda.

The show’s premiere will feature the teams being challenged to create iconic summer foods, including pier favorites, while playing classic boardwalk games like balloon pop and softball toss. Throughout the seven-week competition, each challenge will feature coastal favorites, from fresh west coast fish tacos to buttery east coast lobster rolls, and more.

The final round will be judged by culinary superstars Alex Guarnaschelli and Guy Fieri, who will declare one team member the “Best of the Beach”, earning a dream beach getaway worth up to $25,000. Don’t miss the premiere of “Beachside Brawl” on the Food Network on June 18th at 10pm PT.
