Carbon monoxide exposure causes an increase due to the use of generators

Austin, Texas – Power outages in Austin have led to an increase in carbon monoxide calls due to the use of generators in or near garages, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

On February 2 at around 2 am, ATCEMS tweeted that it had received four 911 calls in the past two hours involving a total of 12 people.

Five children and seven adults were involved in the incident.

Officials are reminding people that incidents can quickly become fatal and offer the following tips.
