Carbon monoxide exposure causes an increase due to the use of generators

Power outages in Austin have led to an increase in carbon monoxide calls due to the use of generators in or near garages, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

On February 2 at around 2 am, ATCEMS tweeted that it had received four 911 calls in the past two hours involving a total of 12 people.

Five children and seven adults were involved in the incident.

Officials are reminding people that incidents can quickly become fatal and offer the following tips.
