Fort Myers Police Department said a multi-vehicle crash caused the Caloosahatchee Bridge to be shut down for hours Saturday morning.
Officers said there were three vehicles involved in the crash. One of the vehicles crashed off of the bridge and into the water. The driver was removed and taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The department said the crash still remains under investigation and they asked drivers to avoid the bridge as they continue to work in the area.
