Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop Planning Return To San Diego
After shuttering its last San Diego location in 2018, Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop has announced its impending return to America’s Finest City.
Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop was founded in Delaware in 1976 and is known for its daily roasting of whole turkeys. Its most popular cold sub, The Bobbie, is a Thanksgiving-inspired creation made with pulled roasted turkey meat, cranberry sauce and stuffing. At one point, Capriotti’s had San Diego locations in Rolando, Hillcrest, and San Marcos, but the last remaining area location at 1620 Camino De La Reina in Mission Valley closed in October 2018. The company has since launched a virtual location of Capriotti’s that operates from Gabriella’s Pizza in La Mesa.
Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop and sister concept Wing Zone recently announced the signing of 17 franchise agreements that will add 23 Capriotti’s and 20 Wing Zone locations to the development pipeline. This includes at least one new brick-and-mortar location coming San Diego County, although the exact address remains unknown. Capriotti’s plans to grow to over 500 locations by 2025 and was ranked on Fast Casual’s Top Movers & Shakers List each of the last three years.
