California Democratic Senate Candidates All Support Far-Left Climate Proposals

The three House Democrats who have announced they are running for the California Senate are far-left supporters of climate action and have supported a multi-trillion-dollar Green New Deal.

Democrats – Congressmen Barbara Lee, Kathy Porter and Adam Schiff – supported an aggressive policy to shift the US energy system from traditional fossil fuel sources to green energy, such as wind and solar power, and advocated massive spending packages that would quickly provide such a transition and supported the so-called environmental justice measures. All three recently entered the race to replace outgoing Senator Dianne Feinstein and are currently the most prominent candidates.

According to the League of Conservation Voters, a left-wing Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group that tracks how lawmakers vote on environmental and climate issues, Schiff has a lifetime score of 98%, while Lee and Porter boast 97%. for the whole life. High scores indicate that these three have a long track record of supporting far-left-supported measures.

“From devastating wildfires in my home state of California to snowstorms in Texas, where I was born, there is no denying that the climate crisis is here and the threat to the security and economic security of our communities is growing every day,” Lee. said after co-sponsoring the Green New Deal with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., in April 2021.

“To ensure a healthy and safe future for our children and grandchildren, the federal government must invest in bold policies to address the climate emergency, especially in communities of color and low-income communities that have experienced generations of environmental injustice. she added. “Our decisions must be commensurate with the scale of the crisis, which is why I am proud to support the Green New Deal.

Lee’s Congressional website further states that combating climate change is her top priority, noting that she has fought oil companies and is working to ensure that “well-paying jobs created in the growing green energy sector are open to everyone, especially people of color.” women and veterans.

Li also joined a Congressional delegation at the United Nations climate conference in Egypt late last year, where she reaffirmed her commitment to putting billions of taxpayer dollars into the international Green Climate Fund and warned that the “window is rapidly closing” to save the planet.

Porter has also been a vocal supporter of far-left climate proposals and signed the Green New Deal after she worked to strengthen “pro-worker clauses” in legislation.

“Congresswoman Porter has fought to hold fossil fuel companies accountable for cleaning up after drilling, in addition to protecting a clean energy future,” Porter’s website says. “Congressman Porter is taking action to accelerate our clean energy transition and make the United States a leading green economy.”

“She is proud to be a member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, which advocates for policies that promote renewable energy, address climate change and create good green jobs.”

Porter has also repeatedly criticized the fossil fuel industry for its alleged “disinformation campaigns”. In August, she introduced legislation that would remove taxpayer-funded subsidies from oil companies that were used to help the industry market products, stating that “it’s bad enough that these corporations are poisoning the planet.”

And Porter made headlines during an October 2021 hearing when she criticized oil executives for how much federal land their companies leased. In a live demo, Porter used candy and rice to show how much land the companies control.

“When you lobby and sue to get more of our public land, you are saying that too much is never enough,” Porter said. “The American people are tired of this charade.”

Finally, Schiff is the only candidate out of three Democrats to list climate change as a key issue on his campaign website. He advocates for the Green New Deal, of which he co-sponsored, major new green investment, the development of a green economy, and world leadership in clean energy development.

“Climate change is real, our planet is on fire and we must act. Now,” he says on his website. “It seems to be common knowledge, but half of the political structure of our country still refutes this simple truth. And worse, refuses to act on it.”

“The Green New Deal is not just a bold plan to fight climate change and start fixing the situation, it is also a strong call to invest in developing a modern, green economy that is fair and just for all,” he adds.

On Wednesday, he introduced legislation that would allow the creation of a sustainable investment fund for federal employees that avoids investing in oil and pharmaceuticals. He said the bill would help federal employees use the investment to promote “sustainable practices to help fight the climate crisis.”

He also criticized Republicans for passing legislation that would remove the Biden administration’s rule allowing fiduciaries to factor environmental considerations into Americans’ retirement accounts, which opponents argued could significantly harm client interests by prioritizing social interests over financial interests.
