Cali-Breakfast To Bring Brunch & Bloody Marys To San Diego’s Cortez Hill

October 11, 2022

Opening this month in San Diego’s Cortez Hill is Cali Breakfast, a Bloody Mary and American breakfast bar with a Latin American twist.

From Executive Chef Marco Provino – who was also a founder of Giardino Italian restaurant in Lemon Grove and also has ownership interests San Diego-based Inpasta, Allegro and Rusticucina restaurants – Cali Breakfast is a morning-focused eatery anticipated to open in late October on the base floor of the historic El Cortez building. Cali Breakfast will feature a variety of Latin American and California-style breakfast options and a brand new build your own drink experience.

Like other kitschy brunch concepts around town, Cali Breakfast will have a decor with neon signs, floral decorations and a festive atmosphere. Walking in, guests will be met with flashes of yellow and blue, and pops of vivid colors throughout the naturally lit space. The menu combines various breakfast and brunch options from lobster Benedicts, breakfast tacos, chilaquiles, avocado toast and even organic breakfast burgers. Cali Breakfast’s drink options include morning expressos and signature Soju cocktails, as well as beer, wine and mimosas. The build your own Bloody Mary experience will deliver a unique assortment of drink options. With a homemade Bloody Mary mix, select various toppings such as peperoncini, shrimp, steak skewers and even dessert toppings from churros to Nutella cones.
