Burglar points .45 pistol at store clerk’s head, then 3 gun-wielding customers come to the rescue, police say

A would-be burglar turned on him this week during an attempted robbery of a convenience store in Ellijay, Georgia, according to police.

Sean Sutton, 39, from nearby Blue Ridge, Georgia, was arrested on robbery charges following the incident, which happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday, the Ellijay Police Department said.

The alleged attempted robbery of Sutton would involve the intervention of three responsibly armed citizens, a .45 pistol pointed at the head of a poor store clerk, and, perhaps most improbably, the use of a pair of women’s underwear as a disguise.

Yes seriously. Let’s dive into this.

According to police, Sutton entered the store posing as an energy drink customer.

At that time, there were two customers in the store and one at the gas station.

Grabbing a drink, Sutton allegedly pulled off a pair of women’s panties. around his neck to cover his face.

Do you think a constitutional amendment should be made to the Constitution?

Oh yeah. The perfect disguise. It’s also worth noting that if there was no surveillance and no one looked at him before he put on the “mask”, the video or bystanders have probably already caught the guy’s face.

The report stated that, disguised thus, Sutton went to the counter, pointed a .45 caliber pistol at the clerk’s head, and demanded all the money.

Other buyers noticed what was happening and quickly intervened.

“The client, legally in possession of a concealed handgun, took out his firearm and intervened in the robbery,” police said. “[T]The second buyer went to his car, took the gun and returned to help the first buyer to apprehend the suspect.”

At this point, realizing that he was literally outgunned, Sutton decided it was time to leave.

When he was trying to get out of the Dodge, the police told the third buyer, who was also armedcame to the store to help, at which time the first customer alerted the other two, saying that Sutton had already been disarmed.

At that moment, the police arrived. Sutton, who was still trying to escape, had to be subdued with a taser, officers said.

According to the report, police arrested Sutton and his wife, Melody, 39, who were waiting in the couple’s car.

Perhaps the wife was waiting there to make a quick escape, although the Ellijay police made no suggestion.

Sean Sutton was charged with “armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon,” according to WSB-TV. Melody Sutton will be charged with “armed robbery, intimidation and seizure of a substance.”

If the two are found guilty in court, this incident could probably be filed somewhere in the Why You Don’t Commit Dangerous Crimes in Small Towns in Constitutional States.
