Broward Sheriff’s deputies apprehend 2 suspects on I-95 in southern Palm Beach County

Drivers on Interstate 95 northbound faced significant delays on Friday afternoon as Broward Sheriff’s deputies engaged in a pursuit that extended into southern Palm Beach County. The incident unfolded at approximately 2:35 p.m. in Deerfield Beach, where deputies were investigating two individuals wanted on an armed kidnapping warrant from Fort Lauderdale.

Following the location of the suspects near the 200 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard, deputies initiated a traffic stop. However, the situation escalated when the suspects deliberately collided with a Broward Sheriff’s Office vehicle before fleeing northbound on Interstate 95. Multiple law enforcement agencies collaborated in tracking the suspects as they continued their journey.

During the pursuit, the suspects’ vehicle made contact with other vehicles, as confirmed by FHP spokeswoman Lt. Indiana Miranda. Broward Sheriff’s deputies executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver near the Woolbright Road exit, leading to the apprehension of both individuals. Firearms were discovered inside the suspects’ vehicle, although no injuries were reported during the course of the incident.

The collaborative efforts of the Delray Beach Police Department and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office were instrumental in resolving the situation. Following earlier traffic closures, all lanes have since been reopened for normal flow. The Broward Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, underscoring the commitment of law enforcement agencies to ensuring public safety and upholding the rule of law.
