Bronx hate crime suspect punches woman in mouth and hurls anti-gay slur: cops

Police said a 25-year-old woman was punched in the mouth at a Bronx deli by an unknown assailant who threw an anti-gay slur.

The disturbing incident is being investigated as a hate crime, according to the NYPD.

The unsuspecting victim was at 120 Circle Deli on Hugh J. Grant Circle, off Virginia Avenue, just before 11:30 a.m. Friday, when she was approached by a perverted suspect who yelled “f—t” and punched her. on the face. mouth, knocking her to the ground, police said.

The assailant ran out of the store and was last seen boarding a northbound Metro 6 train, authorities said.

According to police, the woman received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The suspect is described as a dark-faced man in his 30s, approximately 6’1″. He was last seen wearing a white hoodie with plastic bags around his legs, dark pants and a white surgical mask, police said.

On Saturday, police released photos of the wanted man from the crime scene.

“I’m just a grocery store clerk,” said an employee who answered the call at a Bronx wine cellar Saturday afternoon.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident.
