Broker Carl Gambino is selling an apartment building in Miami Beach for twice the price

New York financiers may be moving to Florida to avoid paying income taxes, but at least one star broker is bucking the trend.

We hear that Carl Gambino of Compass has changed his home in Florida’s Sunset Islands and moved to New York.

The New York native, who spent a decade in Los Angeles building his business before moving to Miami, will commute back and forth between the Big Apple, Los Angeles, Miami and the Hamptons.

Gambino is currently listed on actor Mark Wahlberg’s Beverly Hills mansion for a “cut” price of $79.5 million, up from $87.5 million asked in April.

Gambino bought this house in Miami Beach at 2300 Lake Ave. for $2.82 million in January 2021. He then sold it for $5.7 million earlier this month. (It first hit the market for $7.45 million last October.)

The four-bedroom, three-bath home is 3,015 square feet. The mid-century modern home was renovated in 2018 and then renovated again by Gambino’s wife, celebrity interior designer Sara Ivory, whose work for Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner was featured in Architectural Digest.

The Lake Avenue home also features a saltwater pool and outdoor entertainment areas. The smartly wired hotel features a chef’s kitchen, marble floors to keep you cool in hot weather, and glass doors wrapped around the outside to showcase views of the pool, lawns and wood decks.

Gambino, who had the listing, declined to comment. The buyer was William Zayas of Vision Realty in Miami.

We hear that Gambino, Ivory, and their two children, ages 2 and 5, have moved into a townhouse in Greenwich Village — for now.
