Bridgeton Resident Arrested for Deadly Stabbing in Trenton

Trenton, NJ – A Bridgeton Township man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of Corey Jones, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri. The arrest follows an investigation conducted by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department. James B. Draper, 46, has been charged with first-degree murder and three weapons offenses, including certain persons not to possess a weapon. Draper was apprehended without incident on October 25 in Bridgeton. The prosecutor’s office intends to file a motion to detain Draper pending trial.

The incident occurred on October 19, 2023, just before 9 p.m., when Trenton police responded to a call for an unresponsive male in the area of Cross Street and Kersey Alley. Upon arrival, officers discovered Corey Jones, 40, of Trenton, lying on the sidewalk with multiple stab wounds. Jones was quickly transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
