Brick Township Officer Accused of Possessing Child Pornography

Brick Township, NJ – John Kisch, 57, of Brick Township was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography on June 13, 2023. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, US Department of Homeland Security Investigations Newark, and New Jersey State Police ICAC Task Force executed a court-authorized search warrant at Kisch’s residence on the same day. Detectives found and seized a desktop computer and uncovered over 100 images of child pornography after conducting a forensic examination of the device.

This investigation began because of a referral made by the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force based on cyber-tips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The ICAC Task Force revealed that an individual was uploading images of child pornography to the internet. The High Tech Crime Unit of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office identified Kisch’s Brick Township location with an IP address and confirmed that he was uploading child pornography images on the internet.

Kisch was taken into custody on the day of the search and was detained at Ocean County Jail until his detention hearing. Ricky J. Patel, a special agent of the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Newark, expressed that every image of child pornography is a risk to further victimize those being depicted. HSI special agents partnered with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police to bring Kisch to justice.

Bradley D. Billhimer, the Ocean County Prosecutor, emphasized the importance of investigating and prosecuting offenses involving children and commended the departments and agencies responsible for Kisch’s arrest. These include Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations Newark, New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

It’s worth noting that while Kisch has been charged with possession of child pornography, the press and public should remember that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court. As a result, the charges are merely accusations, and we should wait for the conclusion of the case before making any judgments.

In conclusion, this investigation highlights the importance of law enforcement agencies working together to bring justice to those involved in activities that exploit innocent children. Kisch’s arrest serves as a warning to other individuals engaging in child pornography, and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and other partner agencies will continue to pursue justice for such offenses.
