Who says that San Francisco public officials have no sense of humor?

Local leaders from Mayor London Breed to state Sen. Scott Wiener got into the Halloween spirit today, donning an array of costumes that ranged from elaborate period pieces to political statements—and sharing them on social media.

Mayor Breed went all out with a costume emulating the regal persona of Queen Charlotte from the popular Netflix show, Bridgerton

Decades of Fashion proprietor Cicely Hansen, who’s styled Breed for public events over the last 10 years, assembled the mayor’s elaborate lavender gown with her team, adding vintage jewelry, antique brooches and Regency era-inspired accessories, such as a feathered fan, fingerless gloves and a dainty purse.

The outfit has been in the works for a year, Hansen told The Standard. The mayor arrived at Hansen’s Haight Street vintage boutique this morning to get bejeweled in the costume evoking the glamour of the Netflix historical dramedy.

“She’s an accessory freak,” Hansen said of the mayor. “She loves to dress [up].”

State Sen. Scott Wiener chose a costume befitting his tall frame and dressed up as Sesame Street’s Big Bird. He sported a yellow Big Bird T-shirt and a feather boa.

Supervisor Myrna Melgar made a political statement with her Halloween costume dressing up as “a compliant Housing Element.” Housing policy wonks across the internet had a good laugh

And finally, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Director Jeffrey Tumlin represented the agency he heads up with a suit depicting a map of SF public transit lines.
