Brad Pitt lists old Los Angeles home next to Angelina for $40 million

This Bullet Train actor has put up for sale a California complex he’s owned for nearly three decades.

The one and only Brad Pitt cuts ties with the estate where he and Angelina Jolie raised their children.

The 59-year-old is secretly seeking a buyer for the Los Angeles property he bought from Cassandra Peterson, better known as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, in 1994, a People source confirmed. The celebrity reportedly spent $1.7 million on the property at the time and subsequently added several adjacent lots, creating a mega-property with over 1.9 acres of ice rink, tennis court and pool. According to People, he is seeking about $40 million for his creation in the Los Feliz area.

As for the reason he’s listing the mansion, a source said Pitt is “looking for something smaller” around Los Angeles.

While size seems to be the main issue, there are plenty of emotional reasons to part with the property: The huge home is where Pitt and his ex-wife Jolie, 47, raised their six children — Maddox, 21; Pax, 19 , Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 16, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 14. The once iconic duo have been involved in a harrowing divorce battle over assets and children since their split in 2016.

The luxurious estate is also close to the home that Jolie bought for $24.95 million in 2017 after the couple’s divorce. She previously explained that the proximity of Maleficent star Cecil B. DeMille’s grand estate in Los Feliz to Pitt’s house next door was actually one of the reasons she bought it.

“I wanted it to be near their father, which is only 5 minutes away,” she told British Vogue.

It helps that the luxurious home is not only close to the father of her children, but also steeped in history and wealth – to the point that the actress was frightened.

“I felt a little pressure. It’s like I made my way to where DeMille and [Charlie] Chaplin hung out, ”she said in an interview. “What I like the most is that there is no room for entertainment, but there are many paths and places where you can walk and think. I feel very happy that we have it at this time.”
