Boynton Beach man sentenced to life in prison for murder in 2019

BOYNTON BEACH, Florida. A Boynton Beach man has been sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of murdering a man in the first degree in 2019.

On Thursday, Kent Morley, 45, was found guilty of first-degree murder with a firearm, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition. District Judge Scott Suskauer later on Thursday sentenced him to life in prison for first-degree murder, as well as other terms of five and three years.

On April 8, 2019, police officers arrived at 9:44 pm at the 500 block of East Gateway Boulevard. in Boynton Beach and found 42-year-old Jermaine Orr on the ground with a gunshot wound.

Officers said they tried to save Orr’s life until the Boynton Beach fire and rescue crews arrived on the scene, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Kent was arrested two days later.

He confessed to killing Orr, police records show.

On June 23, 2006, Kent was declared incompetent to stand trial in the shooting case.
Melinda Grimsley a year earlier. He later pleaded guilty to her murder and was able to stand trial. He was released in 2016.
