Bissel recalls 61,000 vacuum cleaners due to fire

Bissel has recalled some of its cordless multi-surface vacuum cleaners due to fire hazards.

The recall of 61,000 vacuum cleaners came after dozens of reports of overheating and smoking batteries, as well as five reports of battery fires.

Of the five fires, three resulted in property damage and one resulted in burns, the company said.

The model numbers included in the recall are 2551, 2551w, and 25519.

Bissel advises owners to immediately stop using the vacuum cleaner and contact the company for free home repairs.

Owners can also have their vacuum cleaner delivered to an authorized Bssel dealer.
