Belen Wolverines win state championship for first time in school history

MIAMI (WSVN) – The Belen Jesuit basketball team received a warm welcome from friends and family after winning the 5A State Championship.

The players stepped off the bus from Lakeland to cheering and hugs after a stunning state championship win, the first in school history.

The Wolverines faced the pirates of the mainland coast of Daytona Beach, where they won comfortably.

The final score of the game was 49:30.

The assembly of state champions will take place on Monday morning.
