Back on Earth, Crew-5 members discuss the mission

HOUSTON – Members of the NASA SpaceX Crew-5 mission will discuss their trip during a press conference Wednesday afternoon at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Crew-5 launched in October, carrying NASA astronauts Nicole Mann and Josh Kassada, JAXA astronaut Koichi Wakata, and Roscosmos astronaut Anna Kikina to the International Space Station after being delayed by Hurricane Yang.

According to a NASA blog, the troupe has been conducting experiments in microgravity, including studies such as the effects of gravity on aging and gardening. On Saturday night, the four returned to Earth after five months aboard the ISS, parachuting into the sea off the coast of Tampa in a SpaceX Dragon capsule.

The event will begin at 2:00 pm ET. ClickOrlando.com will be streaming the press conference live at the beginning of this story when coverage begins.

In addition to the experiments, Crew 5 also saw Mann and Wakata perform two spacewalks and Kassada did three, bringing the last astronaut’s total career time to 21 hours and a surrender spent in a space suit outside the ISS. According to NASA, all participants covered more than 66.5 million statute miles, completing 2,512 revolutions around the Earth.

Before leaving, Crew-5 members greeted the Crew-6 members, who were docked at the station on March 3rd. After a week of handover, station tours and courtesies, Crew 5 headed home.
