Authorities say they arrested a mother who moved to another state, leaving children aged 12 and 3 alone in Montgomery County for several weeks.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A mother accused of leaving her two young children alone at home for several weeks in Montgomery County while she was out of state has been arrested, according to the Roman Forest Police Department.
Raven Yates, 31, was wanted on two counts of abandoning or endangering a child with no intention of returning. She was arrested in Mobile, Alabama.
Details of her arrest have not yet been released.
WHAT’S HAPPENED
On November 14, 2022, a concerned father contacted Roman Forest police, who reported that his 12-year-old daughter had been left alone with her 3-year-old brother since September 28, 2022, without access to food or medicine.
Police said the father, who works in California, immediately flew to Texas as soon as he was told that Yates was in Mobile, Alabama, without his children.
The father reportedly told law enforcement that he realized the kids weren’t with Yates because his daughter regularly asked him to send her food.
A warrant was then issued for Yeats’s arrest.
Police also added that Yates has a 14-year-old child who ran away days before she left the house.
All three children are currently safe with family members in Alabama, according to investigators.
The 12-year-old’s father told KPRC 2 that he is currently in a fight with Yates.
