Authorities say a 19-year-old passenger died after a suspected drunk driver crashed into a parked truck in Brazoria County.

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – A 19-year-old teenager died in hospital after a major accident involving a suspected drunk in Brazoria County on Sunday morning.

Deputies received reports of an accident on Highway 288 near FM 1462 around 4:27 am.

Deputies said a white Chevrolet truck was parked on the south shoulder of Highway 288 when a black GMC pickup slammed into it.

A 19-year-old passenger in a black GMC was seriously injured. She was rushed to a district hospital, where she later died, authorities said.

The 27-year-old driver of the black GMC suffered minor injuries. However, according to investigators, the driver had possible signs of intoxication.

The driver of the white Chevrolet truck was not injured.

MPs said no charges have been filed so far as the investigation is still ongoing.

The southern lanes of Highway 288 were closed for five hours but have since reopened.
