Austin police arrest suspect in connection with two murders

The Austin Police Department says their detectives have made an arrest in connection with two recent murders.

Avraham Kulor, 18, is in the Travis County Jail in connection with the Tech Center Drive and E. 6th Street murders.

On Feb. 8, just after noon, police say they received a call to 911 about a man who was shot, lost control of his car, and crashed in the parking lot of the Fort Branch apartments on Techni Center Drive.

Witnesses and rescuers took action to save lives, but Carlos Calleja died at the scene at 12:31 p.m.

Police found marijuana inside the car, and they say social media on Calleja’s phone indicated he was at the apartments to sell marijuana to Kulor, who goes by the alias Lil AK.

Police say Culor told Calleja where to meet him and Calleja said he had arrived, but then the messages stopped.

It was minutes before Calleja crashed his car.

Several violent crime detectives knew Lil A.K. and were able to identify Kulor in him.

Kulor was a suspect in a series of 5 aggravated robberies with a deadly weapon in the fall of 2021.

Police say the robberies included carjacking-style robberies, home-breaking-style robberies, and the robbery of a person.

The 3 cars stolen in the hijacking were found in the Fort Branch apartments and two suspects were identified – a minor and Abraham Kulor.

Kulor was arrested in 2021 and charged with three counts of aggravated robbery.

Police say he was also arrested for aggravated robberies in 2018 and 2019.

When detectives heard Lil A.K.’s name, they checked prison records to see if Coolor was in custody at the time of the murder, but it turned out he was released in July 2022.

On February 19, just after 8:30 p.m., police received a call to 911 about gunshots in the Texas Lottery Commission parking lot at E 6th Street.

The man, later identified as Kulor, was running from the shots towards 5th Street.

The police spotted him with a bag over his shoulder with marijuana inside.

Kulor was arrested on an outstanding warrant for aggravated robbery.

Anthony Brown, 27, was found in the Texas Lottery Commission’s parking lot with a gunshot wound to the left side of his abdomen.

Life-saving measures were taken, but Brown died at the scene.

Police say their investigation shows that Brown and Coolor met in the parking lot for a marijuana deal, and that’s when, according to police, Coolor drew a gun and shot Brown.

Coolor was charged yesterday with Brown’s murder.

He is currently in the Travis County Jail.
