Austin Energy warns today’s storms could ‘create new challenges’

Austin Energy is warning its customers that thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow morning could “create new challenges.”

Company tweeted asking people to take precautions because the trees are damaged and the wind can create a problem.

They call people:

    As of 1:22 p.m., nearly 9,000 Austin Energy customers remain without power following last week’s ice storm.

    Austin Energy says the wind gusts are beginning to pick up and the weather could complicate power restoration efforts.

    The company says it has already faced many challenges in restoring power to the last 1.66% of its customers. Many outages require several steps to be taken before power can be restored.

    For example, Austin Energy said yesterday that its crews replaced a damaged power pole, which ended up taking an entire day involving multiple trucks and crews.
