As a result of a head-on collision in Astatul, a man was killed, two children were injured, military say

ASTATOOLA, Florida. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 50-year-old man from Okoye died in a head-on collision on Friday in Astatula that left another man and a 7-year-old girl in the hospital.

The accident happened at 4:15 p.m. at 561 County Road, north of Georgia Avenue, the military said.

According to the crash report, a man from Okoe was driving a pickup truck heading south while a second pickup truck was driving northbound, carrying a 36-year-old man and a 7-year-old girl, both from Eustis. The report said the Okoe man’s truck drove into the north lane and collided with another vehicle.

The Okoe man was airlifted to a hospital where he was later declared dead, while the passengers in the second pickup truck were hospitalized in stable condition with minor injuries, the military said.

FHP is still investigating the accident.
