Arson has been banned in Collier County.

COLLIER COUNTY, Florida — The Board of County Commissioners has authorized a burning ban in Collier County.

The ban prohibits the open burning of any open flame or open burning materials that may produce visible emissions.

This also includes plant residues resulting from landscaping and garden maintenance.

The decision was made after a meeting between numerous agencies, which decided that the burning ban should take effect after certain environmental conditions were met.

The ban will exclude commercial incineration of agricultural waste, legally controlled industrial or commercial environments that are part of manufacturing, and incineration activities regulated by the FFS.

This ban prohibits the launching of fireworks, sparklers, and incendiary devices.

In addition, outdoor grills, stoves, stoves, and smokers can be used for cooking if the cooking fire is controlled and monitored.

All outdoor cooking areas must be free of combustible materials within three feet or more.

Violation of order, if found to have caused damage, can be up to $15,000.

The ban will remain in effect until further notice.
