Arrested in connection with the cold case of Caitlin Markham

News Channel 7 reported that investigators have taken a suspect into custody in connection with an unsolved case involving Caitlin Markham. It’s a story that we’ve been following for over a decade.

Once a search warrant was issued, police were able to find and apprehend Jonathan Palmerton, who was then charged with perjury in connection with the investigation, according to Butler County Attorney Michael Gmother, who spoke with our WCPO news partner in Cincinnati.

After a search of his Fairfield home on Friday, he was taken into custody.

This is the first arrest since her disappearance in 2011.

According to the WCPO report, police also investigated another home owned by John Carter, who was believed to have been Markham’s companion at the time of her disappearance. But according to Gmoser, no charges have been brought against Carter in connection with Markham’s disappearance.

This is the very first arrest made in connection with the disappearance of Markham in 2011. According to jail records, Palmerton is currently being held at the Butler County Jail.

Marcum was last seen in August 2011 when they visited her apartment in Butler County.

In 2013, the bones of her skeleton were discovered in Cedar Grove, Indiana. Investigators from News Center 7 answered several calls.

We will keep you updated on any further developments.
