Andre MacDonald’s trial is set to begin on Tuesday, more than three years after he was arrested for killing his wife.

Andre MacDonald’s trial will begin this week with jury selection. If McDonald is found guilty of murder, he could face a life sentence.

SAN ANTONIO — The trial of a local Air Force major charged with the murder of his wife is about to begin.

Andre MacDonald is expected to appear in court on Tuesday after several delays.

In 2019, he was arrested twice in connection with the disappearance and murder of his wife. Investigators said Andreene McDonald’s friends and family last contacted her in late February 2019.

A few days later, on March 1, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office launched a search for the mother, even allowing the public to join in the effort.

“I was in awe of the whole situation,” said Nina Glass.

Glass was among the volunteers and even later formed her own search and rescue team.

“We searched probably three or four days a week, from sunrise to sunset, for [Andreen]”Glass said.

Investigators suspected that Andre played a role in her disappearance. After a search warrant was issued for the couple’s home, he was arrested for falsifying evidence. He made bail and his wife went missing until July 2019.

“We were on the same street where her remains were found a couple of weeks before,” Glass said.

Glass said private property prevented her from finding Andreene’s remains. Officials found her bones burned on the ground in northern Bexar County.

In October 2019, Andre was charged with murder and tampering with evidence. Initially, his bail was set at $2 million, but after the amount was reduced, he waived bail.

His trial will begin with jury selection at the Bexar County Courthouse. If McDonald is found guilty of murder, he could face a life sentence.

“Honestly, I hope they throw a book at him. I really want to,” Glass said. “He ruined his entire Air Force career, his wife’s career, their business, his child’s life. It’s really sad.”
