America’s Estuary Restoration Seeks Consultant – Citizens’ Environmental Coalition

America’s Estuary Restoration Seeks Consultant

We are looking for a student, ideally a graduate student, part time for remote work. This person will assist in the necessary research and development to update the Coastal Recovery Toolkit.

Need for a project
People living in coastal areas may identify problems with natural resources or problems they would like to solve. However, they may be overwhelmed by the amount of information available on coastal restoration and not know where to turn and how to make progress. The RAE and NOAA have created a website where people can get enough, but not too much information to feel empowered to develop their own design ideas.

Overall goal of the project
A web-based tool that provides high-level introductory educational information to community members on how to develop a restoration project from concept to proposal (the “Toolbox”). The toolkit answers questions about coastal restoration and provides access to resources to start and develop a coastal restoration project. The goal is to have a useful, attractive and inspiring website that brings together the fundamentals of coastal restoration in one place. Much of the information exists online or in print form, but it is not collected in one place. The Coastal Restoration Toolkit is a dynamic, interactive, and easy-to-navigate resource that introduces community members to various levels of information.

Project objectives
• Review and edit the current content of the Toolkit on all pages to ensure relevance and accuracy; including checking all links and videos
• Conduct research and develop information related to Alaska and Hawaii; knowledge of the customs of the Hawaiians and Alaska Natives will be a special feature
• Perform web searches for new content for the Sample Project and Tools and Resources pages.

Time and Commitment and Qualifications:
• This is part-time contract work for 10 to 20 hours of work per week; $15-20 per hour
• Applicants must have experience in coastal zone restoration either through work experience or study; an ideal role for a graduate student seeking additional research

Project Manager
The RAE Senior Director of Recovery and Administration will serve as the RAE Project Manager for this project and has full decision-making authority, including final approval, throughout the project.

Application
Please send a resume and cover letter detailing your interest and availability to [email protected].
