Amazon could be indicted in FTC antitrust lawsuit: report

The Federal Trade Commission is preparing a possible antitrust lawsuit against e-commerce giant Amazon, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, it’s impossible to pinpoint exactly what aspects of Amazon’s business the FTC will target, and the timeline for any case remains on hold.

Amazon did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment, and the FTC declined to comment.

The magazine also reported that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is scrutinizing the practice of bundling the company’s Prime subscription service.

In December, Amazon reached an agreement with the European Union on three antitrust investigations after addressing EU concerns about its use of seller data, saving it from a fine of up to 10% of its global turnover.
