‘Alligator’s Got a Woman’: 911 call after attack that killed Gloria Serge

ST. LUCY COUNTY, Florida. A panic-stricken woman called 911 when she saw her neighbor being attacked by an alligator that dragged her into the lake behind their home in St. Lucie County and killed her.

“The alligator grabbed her,” a terrified caller told a 911 dispatcher during Monday. attack on the fairways of the Spanish lakes community.

Saint Lucie County called 911 on Wednesday, two days after the attack, which left Gloria Serge, 85, dead.

“The alligator has a woman,” the caller said to the dispatcher.

When the 911 dispatcher asked her about the size of the alligator, she desperately shouted her answer.

“It’s a huge alligator,” she called out. “It’s huge.”

The caller said that Serge was walking her dog near the lake when she was attacked.

– She is alive? the dispatcher asked.

“Yes, she is alive,” the caller said. “He pulled her in. He pulled her into the lake.”

Carol Thomas withdrawn to WPTV on Tuesday, as she unsuccessfully tried to save her neighbor before calling 911.

However, by that time, the alligator had already dragged Serge under the water.

“It’s too late,” Thomas told the dispatcher. “Too late.”

Thomas was soon transferred to another dispatcher who tried to calm her down.

“She’s gone,” Thomas said. “She’s gone.”

At some point during the call, Thomas can be heard trying to help Serge’s dog.

“I don’t know why people walk their little dogs next to the lake,” Thomas said.

Thomas also told the dispatcher that she had seen an alligator “for the last couple of days”.

Shortly before the end of the call, Thomas interrupted herself to inform the dispatcher that she could see Serge again.

“I see her,” she said. “She is swimming. I think she’s gone.”
