Deputies said they responded to the school and, with the help of K9, conducted a search of the campus, establishing that there were no explosives, the statement said. According to the county, “all clear” was given at 12:45 p.m.

It was later determined that the threat came from a hoax call originating from a phone number in California.

“We thank the students and staff who quickly responded to the request to move or stay in place. Although it was a stressful situation, their collaboration allowed for a quick resolution of the issue, allowing the deputies of the FCSO to do their jobs without distractions,” the county said in a statement.

MPs are still working to identify the caller behind the threat.

“We don’t take these kinds of threats lightly,” Sheriff Rick Staley said. “We thank the MHS students and staff who stuck to Flagler’s Code Blue plan and provided us with a place to conduct a thorough search. Our investigation is ongoing, and if we can identify the caller, there will be serious consequences and a trip to the Green Roof Hotel. The safety of our students is paramount.”

Anyone with information about the threat is asked to call the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at 386-313-4911, email [email protected], or call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).
