Alex Murdo’s Beach House, Silently Sold After Arrest, Re-Sells Months Later

The Post may report that Alex Murdo and his late wife Maggie’s longtime South Carolina beach vacation will be sold again just a few months after it was quietly sold last summer.

Murdo, along with Maggie’s possessions, sold a house on Edisto Island near Charleston in July 2022 for $955,000 – at the same time he was arrested and charged with the murders of her and his youngest son, Paul.

The residence was also sold less than a year after he was charged with insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and filing a false police report.

Less than six months after it was sold to Minnesota locals John and Gail Lankto, they put the house up for sale in January for $1.18 million.

The property entered into a contract last month.

It’s unclear why the Lanctos are selling the escape so quickly. The Post has reached out for comment.

According to records obtained by The Post, Alex and Maggie Murdo purchased the four-bedroom, three-bath Cape Cod-style estate in 2002 for $415,000.

It was considered their second home and was used as a vacation spot for almost two decades, until the tragic family broke out in scandal.

According to the ad, this is “a once in a lifetime opportunity” and the next owner will receive a property fully furnished with designer brands.

Occupying over 2,300 square feet, the hotel has been completely refurbished, including a sun deck, vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, a gourmet kitchen and a wood-burning fireplace.

The solarium has floor-to-ceiling windows and can be accessed from the living room as well as the master bedroom and one of the guest bedrooms.

On the ground floor there is an enclosed shower for washing off the sand after a day at the beach, a dressing room, a fishing sink and storage rooms.

Maggie, 52, and Paul, 22, were found murdered at the Murdo family farm in Mosel, South Carolina on June 7, 2021.

Alex was found guilty of the March 2 murders. The disgraced ex-lawyer was then sentenced to two consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole.

Meanwhile, a separate source told The Post that the family’s 1,700-acre game farm is under contract and close to being sold once all of the family’s personal belongings are removed from the property.

“A new buyer is someone who has no family ties… none at all,” the insider said.
