Alex Dixon hat-trick gives Monterey Bay victory over Hartford in season opener

Seaside, Calif. (KION-TV) — Alex Dixon put on a show in his Monterey Bay debut on Saturday night, scoring three goals in a 5-3 win over Hartford Athletic in Seaside.

Dixon’s first goal came with a graceful rebound off a defender that hit him right before he shot into the net just before the 2nd minute of the game.

He would score again in the 39th minute with a header into the net before Hartford equalized just two minutes later.

At that point, it was a back and forth game until Dixon scored his third goal into the net in the 43rd minute for a first-half hat-trick.

Chase Boone and Adrian Rebollar scored to make it 5-2 before Hartford responded in the 76th minute to make it 5-3.

Winning the season opener gives the Union 3 points in the USL Championship standings.

Monterey Bay will host Louisville City on March 18 at 7:00 pm at Cardinale Stadium.
