Adjustments will go to FPL customers in April

Florida — The Florida Public Service Commission today unanimously approved amendments to Florida Power and Light Company bills effective April.

The new rate changes balance unreimbursed fuel and hurricane costs from 2022.

Customers will pay a temporary storm surcharge for 12 months. State regulators have also approved the allocation of hurricane costs across the entire FPL service area.

Even with the April increase approved, Florida’s typical FPL bill will remain well below the national average and be the lowest among major Florida utilities.

FPL encourages customers to take steps to lower their bills by controlling their energy consumption and making their homes more energy efficient.
