A stranger attacked a 70-year-old MTA worker in the New York subway

Police said on Monday that a stranger punched a 70-year-old MTA employee in the face during an unprovoked assault at a Manhattan subway station.

The female victim was at 34th Street-Hudson Yards train station around 8:45 p.m. Sunday when a man accidentally walked up to her and hit her, authorities said.

It is not clear if the woman was on the train or somewhere else at the station, and what her exact role is in the MTA.

She was treated at the scene, police said.

The suspected man fled and had not been arrested by Monday morning.

Last week, a man hit a female conductor on the arm with a cane at the 34th Street-Herald Square station.

Earlier this month, an assailant sprayed an unknown substance on another female conductor at the 81st Street-Museum of Natural History station, police said.
